Hair burned in too-hot Playboy shoot

When you play with fire, you're going to get burned.

Ashley Dupre, of all people, should know that by now.

The call girl who brought down New York governor Elliot Spitzer, almost pulled a Michael Jackson during her photo shoot for an eight-page spread in Playboy magazine.

While lying nude on the ground surrounded by candles, her hair caught fire, the New York Post reported Tuesday.

"A few strands of her hair caught fire at one point because of all the hairspray," a source told the paper.

Apparently her stylist saw the sparks and rushed over to put out her head before things got out of hand.

Dupre rebuffed Playboy's advances for months before finally agreeing to pose for the magazine, which will publish the photos in its May issue.

We'll be looking for bald spots.

Dupre is also now a sex columnist for the Post.

Bullock is worst actress

LOS ANGELES - SANDRA Bullock has earned a few honours in Hollywood, 'America's Sweetheart' among them, and on Saturday she was crowned with the dubious title of worst actress of 2009, one day before she's favoured to win an Oscar.

Bullock, whose drama The Blind Side has made her the odds-on favourite to claim the best actress Oscar, was given a Razzie Award for worst female performance in All About Steve. No performer has ever won a Razzie and an Oscar the same year.

The actress played a socially awkward designer of newspaper crosswords, who falls in love with a cameraman (Bradley Cooper) and stalks him in the movie.

Organisers of the Razzies, an annual event that began in 1980 to spoof the glitzy Oscars, which take place on Sunday, also named Bullock and Cooper the worst screen couple of 2009.

Hollywood stars are rare sightings at the Razzies, but in 2005 Halle Berry sportingly claimed her award for Catwoman, and brought along the Oscar she had previously won for her role in Monster's Ball. The Razzies this year also turned their inside Hollywood sarcasm on one of the biggest box office hits of 2009, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The critically panned blockbuster was named worst film, and organisers bestowed a second trophy of shame upon its director Michael Bay.

Special awards were given for the past decade. The 2000 film Battlefield Earth, based on the writings of Scientology creator L. Ron Hubbard, was named worst picture of the decade. Comedian Eddie Murphy, who has had several box office duds in recent years, and Paris Hilton were named the worst actor and actress of the 2000s, respectively. -- AFP

Sexy Bollywood stars film in M'sia

KUALA TERENGGANU - BOLLYWOOD star Ranee Mukherjee and several other Indian celebrities are coming to Terengganu in May to shoot a romance movie.

Mentri Besar Ahmad Said says he has met the producer of the movie and even read the script, but declined to divulge more details on the other stars who will be here.

'The production house will disclose the list of actors and other details during a press conference that would be held here before production starts,' he said here on Monday.

Mr Ahmad said the state government is excited that the Bollywood producer had selected Terengganu to shoot its movie as this could have a positive impact for the state since there is a host of Hindi movie buffs all over the globe.

He said 60 per cent of the movie would be shot in Terengganu, including tourist destinations like Kenyir Lake, Tanjung Jara, the state museum and the Sultan Mahmud Airport. He said the state has initially agreed to sponsor the accommodation and transport costs for the production crew.

'We will discuss other aspects like funding for certain slots of the movie with the producer as our aspiration is to have Bollywood on our soil,' he said.
