According to the annual ranking by Japan’s Oricon music chart, KARA has taken the No. 1 spot for the rookie artist with the best sales revenue.
Girl group KARA has so far released two singles, five albums and one DVD and have earned themselves an income of 1.3 billion yen ($15 million) in total sales. Girls’ Generation have released two singles, six albums and one DVD raking in a total income of 800 million yen ($9.5 million).
The rookie awards for highest album revenue per song title went to Girls’ Generation for their catchy songs “Gee” and “Genie.” The third position went to KARA for their song “Jumping.”
